  • AAGP : American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry website raises awareness
    of psychiatric and mental health disorders affecting the elderly. The association has goals to eliminate the stigma of mental illness and treatment, promote healthy aging strategies, and increase access to quality mental health care for the elderly. The site provides mental health information for older adults and their families, to find a geriatric psychiatrist, for news of foundation programs and events, etc.

 

  • ADM Board : The Summit County Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services Board provides a cost effective, efficient system of prevention and care for persons suffering from addiction, and/or mental illness. The board assures a client driven system of care for residents of Summit County with a priority for those individuals most in need.

 

 

  • APA : American Psychological Association is a professional and scientifically based organization that represents all aspects of psychology in the United States. It is the largest association for psychologists worldwide and provides a great source for public access to psychology related information.

 

  • APA.ORG: describes the contributions of psychologists to the health and well being of older adults. This is an article about psychology from the American Psychological Association.

 

  • A New Day Ohio : The “Transforming Mental Health Care in Ohio” website celebrates recovery of people who have been through traumatic situations and the site displays a page of links to success stories. It also provides information on who is transforming the system of mental health care and how it is being transformed to better the needs of Ohioans.

  • AQA

    AQA, a large voluntary multi-stakeholder collaborative of physicians, consumers, purchasers, health insurance plans and others. Their mission is to improve patient safety, health care quality and value in all settings
    through a collaborative process in which key stakeholders agree on and promote strategies to: implement performance measurement at the physician and other clinician or group level; collect and aggregate data in the most appropriate way; and report meaningful information to consumers, physicians and other clinicians, and other stakeholders to inform decision-making and improve outcomes.

 

  • Coleman Professional Services : is a private, non-profit corporation designed to help improve the lives of children, families, and businesses. Coleman has three major divisions consisting of behavioral health, rehabilitation, and an entrepreneur division.

 

  • Global Aging:The site is called Global Action on Aging and is a non-profit organization based at the United Nations in New York. It displays research and articles of all up to date information on older people’s needs worldwide and potential within the global economy. It offers the articles and materials that have the option viewing the articles with the six different languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish. The viewers can access information on policies and programs such as, income support, health access, and human rights.

 

  • Golden Buckeye : The Ohio Department of Aging provides help for adults to promote healthy, active, and independent lifestyles. The department promotes the Golden Buckeye program and provides valuable information on the website to potential card holders.

 

  • Mental-Health-Recovery: This site is The Mental Health and Recovery Board of Portage County and service is available for “all generations.” The Board's official title is the Portage County Board of Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services.

 

  • NCMHA

    National Coalition on Mental Health and Aging, (NCMHA) a mental health and
    aging coalition characterized by the common interest of a diverse group of
    agencies, organizations and individuals working together to improve and
    increase mental health and substance abuse services to older adults across
    America.

 

  • Network of Care : (NOC) The links Mental/Behavioral health, Children& Families (0-18), and Domestic Violence all have reliable information for people in the State of Ohio. Each of the links that include Ohio have recent and up to date information for each service. The site has been described by a presidential commission as “a model for how consumers can use Internet technology to find pertinent mental health information.” It also offers a training program called NOC e-training, an online resource for continuing education for public and providers.

 

  • OACBHA:The Ohio Association of County Behavioral Health Authorities is the statewide organization that represents the interests of all of Ohio’s county Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Boards at the state level. The Association works with a variety of governmental bodies, organizations, and coalitions to seek support for initiatives to enhance mental health and substance abuse prevention, treatment and support services.

 

  • ODADAS: Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services coordinate statewide alcohol, drug addiction programs, and emphasize the importance of abstinence. The state agency also sets standards for care and implements law in relation to alcohol/drug treatment services. There are links to data and statistics, prevention, funding, etc.

 

  • ODJFS : Ohio Department of Job and Family Services web site provides lists of links to information and resources to help families gain accessibility to helpful services offered throughout the state. The site is easy access but the links are not always on the page and some links have to be viewed on Adobe reader.

 

  • Ohio Department of Mental Health: (ODMH) This site offers new and up to date information for people researching mental health issues. ODMH, coordinates the boards' work in public mental health, sets standards for care, carries out the directives of legislation and operates the state hospitals. There is information on learning about mental illness, how to recover, and where to get help. On average, the department mental health systems compensating for more than 300,000 people per year, who are not covered by insurance.

 

  • Summa Health : The Summa Health System website provides information on Providers, locations and services rendered. There are links for Summa Care, Summa Hospitals Foundation, and Summa Health Network.

 

  • The Area Agency on Aging : 10B, INC. provides information, services, and programs for older adults and their families throughout Portage, Stark, Summit, and Wayne counties. They are a non-profit organization based in Uniontown, Ohio.

 

  • The Center For Healthy Aging : “The Center for Healthy Aging is a behavioral health practice that offers to the public the following services: family and individual consultations, problem-focused psychotherapy and cognitive/memory evaluations. The Center also offers innovative programs for enhancing cognitive vitality for adults such as memory improvement groups, and writing seminars. The Center for Healthy Aging combines Dr. Paula Hartman-Stein's expertise in geriatric and health psychology to provide comprehensive, multi-disciplinary services to adults of all ages.”
